Who can forget the great sounds of the 60's, bands like Manfred Mann with Do wah diddy diddy, Small Face's Tin Soldier, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap with Young Girl, Donovan, Lulu, Amen Corner, and Chris Farlowe. The list goes on and on, and if you were there, the memories will come flooding back, a 60's night is a great choice for a 50th or 60th birthday party. We usually mix in a little Soul & Motown to appeal to a wider range of party people.
Take trip down memory lane to the days of flares, kipper ties, big heels and even bigger hair, go back to the mid 70's disco era. There's nothing like the great sounds of disco, to take you back to the days you strutted your funky stuff. The true 70's Disco sound evolved in the mid '70's USA, and found world wide popularity by 79. This had more than a little to do with the rise in popularity of New York's infamous Studio 54. For the first time, DJ's were mixing their own dance tracks, and the audience loved it, and the 12" extended mix was born.....the rest, is history!!!
Of all the eras, the 80's was probably the most iconic, and is still fondly remembered today, 80's music is still played at virtually any party you are likely to attend. You don't need to be in your 40's to love the fantastic sounds of the 80's. Who can ever forget Queen, Madonna, Soft Cell, Billy Idol and their hits, including, Rebel Yell, Tainted Love, Material Girl and Bohemian Rhapsody. If you're celebrating your 40th, or 50th birthday, why not organise an 80's night and party in style.
I seriously doubt there's a person on the planet who couldn't recognise the legendary sounds of Tamala Motown. This genre of music had crossed the boundaries of age, race and religion like no other. Since it's birth in the Detroit of the late 50's, Motown has influenced generations of music lovers, and to this day remains one of the all time greats with more fans now, than it had back in its heyday in the 60's. You can't go wrong with a Motown disco, everyone loves a Motown night.
Do you remember the great days of Northern Soul? The name was coined by journalist Dave Godin and it's generally accepted to have started at the The Twisted Wheel in Manchester, it progressed to the infamous All Nighters at Wigan Casino, The Mojo in Sheffield was one of the better known venues, sadly these legendary clubs have long since passed into the pages of history, but the music lives on. We have a substantial collection of this popular genre for your enjoyment, and can take you down memory lane. NOTE: We play off CD's & MP3's and not the original Vinyl 45's
With its many sub genres Rock music is one of the most diverse of all the classes of music, we favour taking the middle road, and play a great Classic Rock set, try it at your next event, you'll like it. You are welcome to have soft rock if you would rather, but few do. We have the raw power in our sound system to play rock as it should be played, assuming the venue will allow it, of course. ;-)
We have assembled a few playlists to give you ideas for that party you're planning. Feel free to use them, even if it's just to give your brain a bit of a nudge. They are aimed at a mixed age group audience, so they will benefit from a bit of fine tuning.
